Craig D. Olmstead is an attorney based in Gulf Shores and focuses his practice in the areas of real estate, banking, and commercial transactions. He also handles admiralty and aviation matters.
Prior to forming his own firm in 1998, Craig was in the Miami, Florida office of the New York firm Kelley, Drye & Warren, LLP from 1985 to 1997. He was admitted into the Florida Bar in 1985 (ret 2023) and the Alabama Bar in 1997. He is admitted to all Federal Courts in Alabama, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and the United States Tax Court. In 2022 he joined the Birmingham law firm of Clark, May, Price, Lawley, Duncan & Paul, LLC.
Craig has been “AV” rated since 1995 by Martindale Hubbell (“AV” Rating is the highest rating granted by Martindale Hubble following a review survey where a lawyer’s ethical standards and legal ability in a specific area of practice is assessed by their peers) and has been a speaker on legal topics at various seminars. Craig has been recognized as a Mid-South Super Lawyer since 2021 in the area of Real Estate. He co-authored a chapter in The Florida Bar Maritime Law and Practice Handbook (Second Edition) titled “Carriage of Goods and Charters”.
Craig is the former chairman of the board of Habitat for Humanity in Baldwin County, and a former member of the Executive Counsel of the Mobile Area Boy Scouts of America. He is currently Chairman of the Board of Zoning Adjustment for the City of Gulf Shores, Alabama, and is Vice Chairman of the Gulf Shores International Airport Authority Board. He is also a pilot and a mentor for the Gulf Shores High School aviation program.
